The organic production is a sustainable mode of production, which is a global management system of farm and food production that combines the best environmental practices, a high level of biodiversity, preservation of natural resources, the application of demanding standards of animal welfare and production method in line with the preference of certain consumers for products produced using natural substances and processes. This agricultural production plays a dual societal role, first supplying a specific market responding to demand for organic products by consumers and by providing other public goods that contribute to environmental protection. The Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DGADR) is the entity that establishes the principles, technical guidelines and standards required for organic production.
